Monthly Minutes for Thursday, January 5, 2012 ~ HSHS Office, Howard

Minutes: B Styczynski made a motion to accept the minutes of the last meeting as sent out, seconded by G Corbeille. Motion
carried.
Treasurers Report: None available
New Business: Mark Moran Appraisals: N O'Kelley brought information
about Mark Moran and his services as an appraisal expert. He holds events and charges per item looked at. B Styczynski
made a motion to contact Mark and check his schedule for an August event. Seconded by G Corbeille, motion carried.
Old Business: Committee Reports History: The
committee will begin meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 10:00am until Noon. This will coincide with the museum
being open to the public. Fundraising: The used book sale will begin advertising to collect books
and a bin will be placed at Thornberry Cottage, Kimps Hardware, and the Suamico Village Hall for collecting. The 2012
calendars are being sold for $8.00 each at Thornberry Cottage, Suamico Village Hall, Howard Village Hall and Olsen's Piggly
Wiggly. T Rasmussen reported that the annual booyah sale will be held at Whispering Pines Tree Farm on December 4 and
we made $968.00 at the event. Thank you to all who helped make the sale a success. G Corbeille reported that the raffle
license report is ready to send into the State. She will send it in with an application for the 2012 raffle. N
O'Kelley reported that we sold one Flemish Book and two Duck Creek books last month. The book "The Wisconsin
Creole" is being finalized at the printer for us. The last book in this group is "Memories of Old Duck Creek"
and it will be worked on after the Creole book is ready. Aluminum Can Collection: the Society has the month of April
for the can collection. Marketing & Programs: T Rasmussen reported that the next H-S Memories
show will be at the library on January 21 at 2:00pm. We are working on dates for the rest of the year. He is also
looking for a PA system to use at the Memories shows. Website: N O'Kelley reported that the
website is up for renewal. T Rasmussen made a motion to renew the lease of the website at an approximate cost of $153.00,
seconded by N Krause. Motion carried. Civil War Discussion Group: D Lane reported that the group
meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm. Parades: D Lane brought up ideas for the
Memorial Day parade in Howard and to start looking at the parades in the fall. HSHS Office:
T Rasmussen reported that the old refrigerator and the broken dehumidifier have been disposed of. The office
will be open to the public on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. T Rasmussen will look for signage for the times
and dates of the museum being open. A charge of .25 per page for copies was set to go along with our present charge
of $7.50 for 5x7 photos and $10.00 for 8x10 photos. Vickery Property: T Rasmussen reported
that we are waiting for Orville Krueger "The Building Doctor" to send his report and we may have someone from
Luxemburg look at the barn to see what it needs for repair. The Village of Suamico will install the sidewalk from the parking
lot to the house in the spring. Acquisitions: B Styczynski reported that we received a
log marker and an index of several log marks. We also received bells from the sleigh from the Vickery property and several
items from the VFW post in Suamico which has closed.
Other Business: Meeting
Programs: N O'Kelley mentioned the next general membership meeting will have Mike Balza showing his gear
from his Civil War reenactment days and the April meeting will have a program on historic gardens. These meetings will
be held at the Lifebridge Church at 2496 Glendale Avenue. This is the old Wheels-N-Motion roller skating rink.
We hope for good attendance at these programs. Please back the Society with your attendance. Publicity
Chair: The need for a publicity chair was discussed and we will be looking for anyone who would be willing
to write small articles for the newspaper to advertise our upcoming events.
A motion to adjourn was made by T Rasmussen,
seconded by G Corbeille. Motion carried at 7:25 pm.

The Howard water department building located at 605 Maywood Avenue in Howard became
the new home for the Howard-Suamico Historical Society. The Howard Village Board approved a 10 year lease
agreement with HSHS so that the Historical Society could have office space, hold small meetings, store, restore, and display
historical artifacts. The Howard-Suamico Historical
Society extends a huge “THANK YOU” to the Village of Howard and to all of the volunteers that have helped to remodel
this building! Open House & Office and
Museum Dedication was held on Saturday, July 25, 2009.
